Point of Reflection
Good Conduct
You can preach a better sermon with your life than with your lips

Pearls of Wisdom

Then Almitra spoke again and said, “And what of Marriage, Master?”
And he answered saying:
You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Aye, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

In Memory of Ponky Papa and Aunty Yasmin

In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond; And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour. Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

Khalil Gibran

Feel's like just yesterday that we spoke. We were suppose to meet on Saturday. To catch and to chat. When I heard that you had been in an accident the first thought was "oh no, not again", you being the one with the accident thing monopolised. And then came the "we have heard the Ebu and auntie Yasmin have passed away".A chill came over me.You cant be dead I willed myself to believe. And then came the second call.Confirmation of my worst fear.I have not shed a tear yet.Not that i don't want to but if I don't maybe this will all be a bad dream. You were not suppose to have gone so soon.Parents are not suppose to bury their children.

May you be granted Janaat ul Firdous and insha Allah your children gain the strentgh and sabr to overcome this great agony........................................

Happy Feet

Had the luxury of watching this movie with "kiddo" last night. It is brilliant.Funny, thoughtful and some of the most stunning animation I have seen since Final Fantasy.
With a fair split of kid friendly jokes and one liners that appeal to adults this movie is the ideal family night out movie. We were a party of 4 and all of us were in stitches from beginning to end.
As per status quo wont get into details but will repeat myself and say the animation is stunning.Almost life like. You want to reach out and touch the penguins.(That may be cause we were in the second row from the front but doubt it)
The highlight of the movie is Robin Williams character "Ramon".Robin creates a quirky witty character through his voice work that is both brilliant and hilarious to watch.
So take the kids out and grab some "Happy Feet"
A few of lines to wet your appetite:
Ramón: Just a moment. I hear people wanting something... ME!
[watching the elephant seals]
Raul: I don't think they are penguin eaters, are they?
Ramón: I believe they are herbivores.
Raul: Uh?
Ramón: You know, kelp suckers!
Till my next trip on the celluoid coaster......................

I Hate Accounting

Got my results for Oct-Nov exams.I failed acn-101 again (see post for Monday, October 09, 2006).This is seriously pissing me off. This has been the 4th time that I have written this paper.Really studied hard this time.Actually thought I would be ending this cycle.Well lets hope June-July 2007 will be a better period for me and acn.

On a happy note as per last week's resolution I passed my INF 3 module.Really happy bout that one.Fair enough I have been doing networking for a few years but the volume of work was staggering.Got to thank the man up there for that one.

Well going to cut this post short here.Silly season etc etc.Tons of boxes to sort and loads of other things to do.

Silly Season Update.

Sunday the 1oth of December and I working.Found out I was working at 8:45 this morning.Got here at bout 9:20.Thank God I was so tired last night and went to bed early otherwise would have been torture this morn.

While on the topic of last night have to admit I had big blogging plans but things went tit's up on me.Hired four movies and figured would watch and blog em.This is what happen:

1.New World - Passed out 20 min into the movie and have very lil recollection of what I watched though do remember it being very slow.

2.Failure to Launch - Woke when there was 20 odd min left.Roomy was bored so started watching.Seems funny but not really keen to watch seeing as how I caught the tail end already.

3.Misstress of Spice - Crap.Pretty lead and nice spice ideas but crap crap crap.No substance what so ever.Rai should stick to bollywood and leave hollywood to it's own demise.Dont watch. Not now not ever.

4.A Scanner Darkly - Art house flick.Cartoon.Good cast but extremelly hard to follow or make any sense of.Watched bout half and called it a night.

Think I need to review my movie hiring tactic's.Hired 4 liked 0 is a terrible score.Let's hope I get out of here early.Might get a chance to redeem myself.

Till the next time..........................

Looking for 10%.

Just got this in a mail from a friend.Figure it something worthwhile sharing in this day and age

Somewhere along the way, you'll find a woman or a man who will be more charming or sensitive, more alluring, more thoughtful, richer, have greater sex appeal, and you will find a woman or man who will need you and pursue you and go loco over you more than your spouse ever did. Because no wife or husband is perfect. Because a spouse will only have 90% of what you're looking for. So adultery takes place when a husband or wife looks for the missing 10%.
Let's say your wife is melancholic (gloomy\moody) by nature. You may find yourself drawn to the pretty clerk who has a cherry laugh no matter what she says: "I broke my arm yesterday, Hahahaha . . ."

Or because your wife is a homebody in slippers and pajamas, smelling of garlic and fish oil, you may fall for a fresh-smelling young sales representative that visits your office in a sharp black blazer, high heels, and a red pencil-cut skirt Or because your husband is the quiet type, your heart may skip a beat when you meet an old college flame who has the makings of a talk show host.

But wait! That's only 10% of what you don't have.

Don't throw away the 90% that you already have!

That's not all. Add to your spouse's 90% the 1000% that represents all the years that you have been with each other. The storms you have weathered together. The unforgettable moments of sadness and joy as a couple. The many adjustments you have made to love the other. The wealth of memories that you've accumulated as lovers.

Adultery happens when you start looking for what you don't have.

But faithfulness happens when you start thanking God for what you already have.

But I'm not just talking about marriage.

I'm talking about life!

About your jobs.

About your friends.

About your children.

About your lifestyles.

Are you like the economy airline passenger that perennially peeks through the door of the first class cabin, obsessed with what he's missing? "They have got more leg room! Oh my, their food is served in porcelain! Wow, their seats recline at an 80% angle and they've got personal videos!"

I guarantee you'll be miserable for the entire trip! Don't live your life like that. Forget about what the world says is first class. Do you know that there are many first class passengers who are miserable in first class because they are not riding in a private Lear Jet?

The main message:

If you start appreciating what you have right now, wherever you are will be first class!

Casino Royale

It may not be the best Bond movie out there, but it most definitely is the best Bond. At the risk of being painted with a pink brush I have to say I love Daniel Craigs' Bond. Confident but not condescending. Aristocratic yet non-arrogant. Cocky with out conceitedness.

Is a definite improvement to the prissy, pompous, poncy Pierce. Daniel Craig is most definitely a brilliant casting choice. Will dare say that he will out shine Sean Connery.Dont get me wrong Sean Connery is pretty high on my list of top actors.
But Daniel Craig brings a style and finnesse to Bond that will have Ian Flemming bursting into hymn over.Half hit man half monk.Blood and sweat with the invinciblity.

As for the movie itself, I will not get into details other than to say if you expecting a typical Bond movie don’t watch it. On the other hand if you enjoy a changing tide then go out and watch it as soon as possible. With healthy dosages of action, romance, suspense and the most agonizing torture scene for any guy watching, it will keep you entranced for lengthy 144 minutes.

Eva Green also rocks the boat of “James oh, James” with her portrayal of Vesper Lynd. Sassy, sexy, intelligent and with a healthy dose of sarcasm she is the perfect rose to Bond’s thorn.

There are quite a few brilliant lines in the movie. Have included some of my favorites:

James Bond: Vodka-martini.
Bartender: Shaken or stirred?
James Bond: Does it look like I give a damn?

Vesper Lynd: If the only thing left of you was your smile and your little finger, you'd still be more of a man than anyone I've ever known.
James Bond: That's because you know what I can do with my little finger...

Vesper Lynd: Am I going to have a problem with you, Mr. Bond?
James Bond: No, don't worry, you're not my type.
Vesper Lynd: Smart?
James Bond: Single.

Do have one issue with Daniel Craig. Where ever did he learn to run? He has one of the most unnatural gaits I have ever seen. A’la Kristanna Loken in her role as TX in T3.You have to see it to understand I reckon.

Have my fingers crossed and my hopes up to seeing many more returns of the blue eyed blonde Bond.Doubt I will be let down.

Happy Thoughts No.1

Been up from round about 3 this morning.Have a stomach issue.Driving me insane and pretty sore.Well came into work in a foul mood.Sore and crabby not a good way to try and start the day.And then got a few mails in my inbox from someone I hold very dear.

This added some color to my day but highlight was being able to spend hour or so chatting to same person.Like to call em my "happy pill".As a manic depressive having something none chemical or destructive that can take you out of the "valley of darkness" is indeed a great thing.

So thank you "happy pill" you made my day sooooo much better and I dedicate this happy blog to you.

Why Do I Blog?

Was touched today by someones action.Friend of mine came across blog and took time out mail me bout it.Nice knowing people still do things out of the goodness of their hearts and not for any other sinister reason.

The mail got me thinking. Why do I blog?

- Venting
- Commenting bout things I might otherwise not comment on for a host of reasons
- Saying things I did not say
- Interacting with people namely bloggers

That's why I blog in a nutshell or so I thought.

At the same time was made aware that there a lot of anger and harshness that comes across.
It was at this point that I realised that in an effort to make my life more happy in the real world I have been off loading a lot of anger and crap on this blog. And it working. Not as well as I wish it was but these are still early days.

In an effort to put some happiness and joy to I promise to blog one happy moment every week.It a lil I know but figure it a start there too.Maybe one day I would have worked all this emo crap out of my system and will be a happy, jolly, cheerful blogger.Stayed tuned folks.........

Cosmetic Facts

A few interesting titbits for all you make-up wearing folks out there:

- Most eye shadow contains fish scales to give them their iridescence.
- The common make-up is scratching the eye ball with a mascara brush.
- Nail polish is a refined version of car paint.
- Waterproof mascara contains tar, which makes it run proof.
- Cleopatra used crushed beetles as lipstick.
- Most make-up brushes are made with hogs' hair.

Sitting at home on my laptop mulling over what to do this weekend. You see there no power for a 24 hour period that started at 2 today. For those that have not noticed today is a Saturday. So here I am stuck in the dark over a weekend.Given the fact that it the silly season I need to be chilling out.Given the crappy wet cold weather this chilling out would have included several DVD's, popcorn, coffee and chocolate(milkybar with jellitots).

But alas some bastard at the municipality has choosen this weekend for the overhaul of the El grid in order to provide more reliable power for the future.

As a 20something in the 21st centuary I am screwed.I can not be with out electrity. How am I suppose to fuction. No hot water to shower, no kettle to boil water, no power to charge latop or cellphone, no telly to make me sillier, no radio to listen to, no light to read under and the list goes on and on.

Scary to think what would happen if somebody stumbled across time travel and I got transported back a few hundred years. What would I do? I would be at a lose.It is amazing how dependant we have become on things that we have no control over.

At a total lose not having tv blaring in the background, cell phone on ear, all the while on laptop surfing the net. When in a reality a break from all the hustle and bustle should be seen as good we freak out if we forget our cell at home or the internet is too slow.

Think I going to give it a shot.Battery almost flat here, cell dying slowly so rather than be forced to sit "in the dark", going to put myself in the dark and try to relax. No distractions no interferance.Just me myself and I becoming one.Sounds so damn crazy and scary.Go figure. And to think we have "progressed".

Update on Silly Season

Only got out of shop after 9 last night.Nasty.Hate it.Only new years resolution I have this year is that next job mon-fri 8-5 and closes in dec.Wish me luck

Silly Season.

So it starts.Like to call this time of the year the silly season.

I work in a clothing store. To give more detail the flagship of a five store family owned operation out in the Eastarn Cape. Now this place is a freak of nature. And come December time it becomes a freak of nature on an extra large dose of steroids.

And so every year come December time your life gets turned upside down.Hence why I am sitting at work on a Friday evening at something to 8 supervising.Last year I went through all of this with a hole in my back and a wrecked heart. Was not pretty.

This year looks like it intends giving last year the finger in terms of how bad it going to get.The year as a whole for biz has not been too good. But it looks like it going to cover up now in December. The mere thought of that scares the bejesus out of me.

So ya, expect less blogging, much more venting and a total degradation of manners and attitude for the silly season has started
